It’s always a good time to focus on how to empower women instead of bringing them down in the subtle and overt ways of mass media. With the unfortunate results of the 2016 US Presidential elections behind us and the hopeful Women’s March on Washington before us, turns out that now is a particularly good time to raise women up.
To that end I am giving away a three-pack of books (actual physical paper copies, unless otherwise specified). I understand that most of you who are reading this are fully-grown women. That said, “woman-power three-pack” just sounded clunky to me (and could potentially get mistaken for Charlie’s Angels or something). And I sincerely hope that these titles find their way into the hands of your favorite girls. So here’s the Girl Power Three-Pack:
Rejected Princesses: Tales of History’s Boldest Heroines, Hellions, and Heretics, by Jason Porath. This is an inspired and inspiring book to counteract all that Disney princess nonsense girls are fed from an early age. One thing’s for sure: no woman in this book needed to be saved by a guy. The book’s also a potent antidote to anyone ever telling a woman “You can’t do that ’cause you’re a girl.” Everrrr.
From the Amazon description: ”Well-behaved women seldom make history. Good thing these women are far from well behaved… An entertaining mix of biography, imagery, and humor written in a fresh, young, and riotous voice, this thoroughly researched exploration salutes these awesome women drawn from both historical and fantastical realms, including real life, literature, mythology, and folklore. Each profile features an eye-catching image of both heroic and villainous women in command from across history and around the world, from a princess-cum-pirate in fifth century Denmark, to a rebel preacher in 1630s Boston, to a bloodthirsty Hungarian countess, and a former prostitute who commanded a fleet of more than 70,000 men on China’s seas.”
The Tao of Dating: The Smart Woman’s Guide to Being Absolutely Irresistible, by Dr Ali Binazir. This would be the book I wrote. Nominally, it’s about dating, because who doesn’t want more love in her life? Really though, it’s about how to become the most empowered, radiant version of you, all the time. Highest-ranked dating book Amazon for 4 years.
A Woman’s Worth, by Marianne Williamson. By now, most of you know that I’m a huge Marianne fan. This book’s not just about women, but also about the importance of feminine power (vs masculine power) and how much we need it in the world today. A potent pick-me-up and call to action.
Click here to enter the drawing. It’s the first time I’m using this software, so please let me know in the comments how it’s working. Note that only US residents are eligible to receive physical copies. If you happen to win from overseas, I’ll send you digital versions.
Next time, I’ll tell you about some other good books I read last yeart. Good luck and more power to you, Dr Ali
